Tamara Bernier Evans



Tamara earned a BFA Honours in Theatre Performance from York University and completed nine years of piano performance as well as three years of music history and harmony at Canada’s Royal Conservatory of Music. She began her acting career at the Stratford Festival of Canada before going on to perform for theaters in Toronto (Tarragon, Necessary Angel, Nightwood and Canadian Stage) and across the country (The National Arts Centre in Ottawa and Theatre Calgary) as well as playing a lead role on Broadway in the musical Mamma Mia! After living and working in NYC, Las Vegas and LA, she returned to Toronto to become a Founding Artist of Theatre 20 and served as the Artistic Producer there until she won a lead role in the Toronto production of War Horse. In 2015, she served as a member of the Dora Mavor Moore Awards jury for the Touring, Musical Theatre and Opera category. She has directed workshops at the Stratford Festival of Canada, for Theatre 20, and at George Brown College among others and served as the Assistant Artistic Director at Tarragon Theatre for the 2015/16 season. She directed a Mainspace production of Midsummer: A Play with Songs at Tarragon Theatre in May 2017 with Richard Rose.
