Bruce Harvey

One of Canada's busiest pianists, Bruce Harvey has worked as a solo pianist, accompanist, and ensemble player at venues throughout the area for nearly four decades. He is one of the most sought-after pit-band players in the city, performing for many years as pianist for countless touring Broadway productions in Toronto and across North America. Beginning with the first mounting of Cats in Toronto in 1985, Bruce has worked as keyboardist, assistant conductor and rehearsal pianist on productions such as The Wizard Of Oz, Crazy For You, Napolean, Jane Eyre, Forever Plaid, Fosse, Wicked and White Christmas. He was also the assistant music director of Rat Pack Live From Las Vegas. Harvey led his own group, the Bruce Harvey Quartet (featuring Mike Malone on trumpet and bassist George Kozub), which performed in JazzFM91?s Sound of Toronto Jazz Concert Series. In a prior incarnation, he worked in studio orchestras on various film scores and T.V. variety shows, and was fortunate enough to perform with such jazz artists as Guido Basso, Rob McConnell, Stephane Grapelli, Peggy Lee, Mel Torme and Nancy Wilson. And one long-ago evening, Pierre Trudeau pushed Bruce's piano in out of the rain.ÿ
