Jason Franco

Jason is a choreographer/performer with 25 years of professional work. Having started performing at the age of five in The King and I, theatre and dance have always been a huge part of his life. He studied dance at Studio Dance Theatre and Metro Movement in Toronto as well as at the acclaimed Broadway Dance Centre and Steps in NYC. His work as a performer has taken him to many places across Canada, including the Charlottetown Festival, YPT and six different productions with Drayton Entertainment. In London, England, he appeared in the West End in Casper – The Musical, written and directed by David H. Bell, and in NYC he was part of Chet Walker’s (Fosse) dance company, 8&ah1. Jason was also dance captain for Royal Caribbean International. Jason’s TV and Film credits include most recently the series Beauty and the Beast, Canada’s Got Talent and Hellcats as well the movies Sing and Mirror Mirror starring Julia Roberts. Jason’s work as a choreographer has ranged from revue shows for Paramount Parks, musicals such as Annie and Can Can for TUTS in Vancouver, The Wild Party, Debbie Does Dallas, Grease and Anything Goes as well as directing Applause Musicals in Concert’s Sunday in the Park with George, Lorelei and Saturday Night. His work on Debbie Does Dallas received an Ovation Award for Outstanding Choreography of a musical. Jason also served as director and choreographer for the second companies of both Casper and The Mask for Bultins Resorts, U.K.. As an assistant he worked recently with Jeff Dimitriou on Degrassi – The Next Generation and with Paul Becker on Stage Fright starring Meatloaf. Recently, Jason was associate choreographer on Drayton Entertainment’s Oliver! In 2016, Jason will appear in Drayton Entertainment's productions of Aladdin and Cinderella.
