Tony Mason

Tony Mason has a great deal of professional musical experience, playing many different keyboard styles. As soloist, accompanist, bandleader, or sideman, Mr. Mason brings creativity, dedication, integrity, and versatility to genres ranging from pop/rock to musical theater, and from classical to jazz. A career that began in 1981 with the Second City national touring company (as pianist, working with such actors as Dan Castalanetta, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, and Laura Hall) has included engagements with artists, orchestras, and ensembles throughout North America, Europe, Israel, and Africa. His passion for sacred music has been cultivated at Westview Presbyterian church in east Toronto, where Tony has been music director since 1998, a demanding position that blends traditional choral and organ repertoire with progressive contemporary material. A busy teaching schedule has given him the opportunity to encourage young people to discover and develop their musical ability. His students enjoy success in competitions, examinations, festivals, and recitals. Since 1990, playing for dance classes and performances has been a regular part of Tony’s life, and “it is a privilege for me to accompany ballet classes at Randolph Academy, where love of performing arts is being fostered so well”. Mr. Mason holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois, Associateship diplomas in organ and piano performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, and an Associateship diploma from the Royal Canadian College of Organists.
