Peggy Jane Hope is an acting/ voice and speech teacher, actress, singer, dancer, and songwriter. She studied theatre, at The Ryerson Theatre School, Dance, at Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal, and has a Masters degree in Theatre Performance from York University, as well as a Voice specialty diploma in the Kristen Linklater pedagogue, under the expert tutelage of David Smukler. She wrote her Masters thesis, on the connection between the artist’s mind and body, entitled, “A Step Without Feet: Jung, and the Actor’s Process”, which explores the split between psyche/soma, and the ongoing work for the artist to make that connection. Peggy Jane also studied jazz vocal music at Humber College, and participated in several long-term residences, in the music department at The Banff Centre for the Arts. She studied classical singing with Gwenlynn Little, of the New York City Opera, as well as jazz vocal, with the legendary, Sheila Jordan. She has performed roles such as Maria in The Sound of Music, Sally Boyles, in Cabaret and Nora, in A Doll’s House. Peggy Jane has completed her first term of teaching acting/voice, and speech at The School of Performing Arts, at Ryerson University, and has recently returned from California, where she studied with award-winning vocal coach, Claude Stein, of The Natural Singer. Peggy Jane has begun teaching as a Professor of Movement/Voice and Speech at Toronto Film School/University of Yorkville.
